  • 1982.3—1985.1: 武汉大学物理系师从王仁卉教授攻读硕士学位
  • 1985.3—1989.7: 北京科技大学材料物理系师从中科院院士柯俊教授攻读博士学位
  • 1990.3—1995.3: 华中理工大学材料科学与工程系从事教学科研工作，先后任讲师、副教授
  • 1995.4—1998.8: Pennsylvania State University 材料研究所先后任访问副教授、博士后研究员
  • 1998.9—至今: 武汉大学物理系先后任教授、博士生导师
  • 1999年获教育部《跨世纪优秀人才培养基金》
  • 2001年获国家科学基金委《杰出青年基金》
  • 2002年获聘为教育部《长江学者》特聘教授
  • 2004年入选国家《新世纪百千万人才工程》
  • 现任武汉大学纳米科学与技术研究中心主任，物理科学与技术学院科研副院长
